3D Environment Artist

Coatsink is looking for a highly motivated and talented 3D Environment Artist to join the team in Sunderland, UK. In this role, you will work closely with our wider art team.

As a 3D Environment Artist at Coatsink, you will be expected to work within strict timeframes for project deliveries, working within a team, and reporting to your Art Director. You will have a solid foundation in art, understanding of form, composition, light and colour for both 2D and 3D art.

3D Environment Artist

Responsibilities

  • Model and texture a range of assets across many different projects according to the design, art style, and overall vision
  • Create and assemble scenes for both architectural and organic environments, coordinating with other team members to ensure that the artworks in service of, and alongside, design and narrative specifications and technical limitations of the current project
  • Be an active participant in team art discussions, critiques and reviews
  • Build game content in Unity

Required

  • Relevant degree in Games Art or equivalent
  • Highly proficient in a leading 3D modeling package
  • Ability to create 3D environment assets, according to the game style and art direction
  • Ability to create both organic and hard surface assets
  • Strong texture skills towards high and low poly assets
  • Versatility towards working with different artistic styles and processes
  • Deliver clean and optimized low polygon models, and efficient UV layouts
  • Integrate assets and textures into the game engine
  • A good notion of proportions and a good eye for detail
  • Solid understanding of composition and visual communication when building scenes
  • Work in a collaborative spirit both within the team and with other departments, such as Concept Art, Animation, Game Design, etc
  • Willingness to learn and adapt following the needs of a project

Preferred

  • Two years’ experience in games industry

  • 3DS Max experience

  • Strong Photoshop skills

  • Knowledge of the technical constraints linked to real time, 3D engines and level editors

  • Ability to create high quality assets under heavy technical constraints (i.e. assets for mobile)
