Game Designer

Coatsink is looking for a highly motivated and talented Game Designer to join the team. You will work closely with our Game Design team.

As a Game Designer at Coatsink, you are responsible for crafting and maintaining the design of a game, ensuring that the game’s content is built closely to that design and at a high standard. You will communicate primarily with the design team and with seniors from other disciplines, to ensure the whole team understands the project’s design.

Game Designer


  • Designing content for the game according to the project’s design
  • Building game content in Unity
  • Maintaining content integrity across the life of the project
  • Communicating with Programmers and Artists to ensure all aspects of the game content meet the project’s design to a high standard


  • Two or more years’ experience working in a game design role
  • At least one title shipped while working in a game design role
  • Excellent Unity experience
  • Basic programming/scripting knowledge
  • Competent writing ability
  • Basic art skills
  • Strong understanding of level design, UX design, and game design fundamentals
  • Ability to work in both small and large teams
  • Strong passion for playing video games across a wide variety of genres, and analyzing what makes them good/bad
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong understanding of games market and target audience
  • Confident IT skills
  • Innovative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes and new problems
  • Ability to turn constructive criticism into positive or improved results
  • Experience leading a team on a released title
  • Experience working within project management methodology such as SCRUM 


  • Designer role on a released unity-based game
  • Experience developing for VR
  • Competent/Excellent Programming/scripting knowledge
  • Excellent writing skills and a passion for storytelling
  • Competent/Excellent Art skills
  • Relevant university degree
  • Experience using Atlassian software (Jira, Confluence etc)
