Looking Back at 2021

What a Year…

Phew, what a year! We celebrated our 10 year anniversary, announced REPLACED at E3 in June,  launched Get Packed: Fully Loaded, Islanders: Console Edition, Jurassic World Aftermath Part 2 & Moonglow Bay.

We also finally announced our upcoming title, The Last Hero of Nostalgaia as part of the ID@Xbox Winter Showcase earlier this month.

You could say we’ve been a bit busy…

Get Packed: Fully Loaded

Our first launch of the year was Get Packed: Fully Loaded, a deluxe and definitive edition of the game featuring two new campaign chapters, seven extra versus levels, gorgeous new key art, quality of life updates and a plethora of new character outfits and hat customisations. It’s fully loaded with fun, explosions and … aliens?!

Get Packed went Fully Loaded on Google Stadia and also launched on Xbox, Steam and Playstation on 29 July 2021. We were delighted to see so many content creators share their adventures (and epic failures) in Ditchlington through a series of hilarious streams, videos and clips, while also introducing the community to Drillby the salty mascot for Industrial Salt (don’t worry we have the social media account passwords too!).

Get Packed: Fully Loaded is 25% off in  the Google Stadia Festive promotion until 30 December 2021 and the Steam Winter Sale until 5 January 2022.

Islanders: Console Edition

We surprised everyone by shadow-dropping the super chill, minimalist city-builder Islanders: Console Edition on Nintendo Switch as part of the Indie World Showcase back in August. Xbox and Playstation versions of the game arrived a couple of weeks later.

There’s been so many fantastic reviews and we saw the Nintendo Switch version in the top 10 best sellers in the UK, Europe and Japanese eShop rankings. We couldn’t have asked for a better reaction!

Islanders: Console Edition is 25% off in the Nintendo eShop Winter Sale until 30th December 2021 and Nintendo eShop Indie World Holiday Sale (US) until 31 December 2021.

Jurassic World Aftermath Part 2

Sam and Mia’s epic adventure on Isla Nublar concluded in September when Part 2 of Jurassic World Aftermath came to Oculus Quest. Still trapped on the island following a dramatic plane crash,the highly anticipated concluding chapter saw all-new dinosaur encounters and puzzles, while giving us the opportunity to learn more about Mia and how far she was willing to go.

Moonglow Bay

Moonglow Bay set sail on Xbox and Steam on 26 October 2021 and Epic Games Store on 11 November 2021. The wholesome slice-of-life fishing RPG gives players the opportunity to rebuild a fractured community, find over 100+ Aquatic Species, play together in local co-op and discover the mystical monsters of Moonglow!

Moonglow Bay is part of the Steam Winter Sale between 22 December – 5 January 2022.

REPLACED

We were absolutely thrilled to be part of the Xbox Bethesda E3 Showcase in June and have the opportunity to introduce you to REPLACED, a retro-futuristic cinematic platformer with free-flow combat. Coming in 2022, REPLACED will arrive on the Xbox Family of Consoles, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

Set in an alternative 1980s America, you play as R.E.A.C.H, an AI trapped in a human body against its will. Together, you will define a shared future as you discover the dark secrets of Phoenix-City, a society ruled by corruption where outlaws are rife.

We can’t wait to share more information about all the hard work going into the game.

The Last Hero of Nostalgaia

The world around you is collapsing back into a mysterious pixelation and Nostalgaia needs a hero. Which is where you come in. Hopefully. The trouble is you’re not the high fidelity hero the people want. In fact, you’re a mere stick hero that can barely hold a sword and shield, but you’re the only hope that they’ve got.

The wicked, twisted satirical souls-like is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam in 2022.

Coatsink10

2021 marks the ten year anniversary of Coatsink and we have come so far since our first game, Pinch! Since then, we’ve worked on a wide variety of products, from the doggy duo physics puzzler, PHOGS, to the hand-drawn, exotic platformer, Shu. 

We are also credited on many other beloved projects, such as Transformers: Battlegrounds and Kingdom: Two Crowns. We even supported on technical aspects of Gang Beasts! 

Outside of games, this year we launched our Coatsink Go Green initiative to act more sustainably as a team and give back to the planet.

We also pledged to try and raise £10,000 for 4 incredible charities: Safe in our World, Special Effect, The Ocean Clean Up and Kaleidoscope Trust.

We ran a number of initiatives throughout the year to raise money and awareness for our charities including the Safe in Our World 10k miles Walk-a-thon, the Kaleidoscope charity raffle, our Moonglow Bay inspired Ocean Clean Up fundraising as well as taking part in One Special Day for Special Effect in October. We’re still raising funds for all of these incredible charities until the end of the year, so feel free to donate and share.

We’re so excited about everything we have achieved this year and for what 2022 holds! We’d like to thank all of you for being part of it and take this opportunity to wish our community a very Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it and a Happy New Year.
