Sound Designer

Coatsink is looking for a highly motivated and talented Sound Designer to join the team in Sunderland, UK. You will work closely with our Audio Director and sound team.

As a Sound Designer at Coatsink, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, designing and implementing sound effects using industry standard equipment and software. You will need to work closely will all other departments to ensure audio helps to create the game’s vision.

Sound Designer

Responsibilities

  • Work with all departments of development to define and plan a project’s overall direction
  • Ability to work in many different styles and adhere to the needs of the project
  • Use industry standard tools and equipment to design and implement sound effects
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of fundamental audio processes and an ability to communicate and apply them in an efficient and effective manner
  • Create original and compelling sound effects by means of recording, synthesis and sample library
  • Produce assets on time and execute feedback quickly
  • Implement sound effects into middleware and prepare assets for use by other departments
  • Plan and execute recording sessions when necessary
  • Manage and maintain a well-organized sample library
  • Work on multiple projects while keeping assets and samples organised and available should another team member need to access them
  • Manage large quantities of audio assets from external recording sessions such as voice over

Required

  • A minimum of 2 years working in the games industry
  • An excellent understanding of sound design for games
  • In-depth knowledge of common DAW’s and plugins
  • Experience working with Unity3D
  • Ability to work quickly with short turn around times
  • Willingness to learn new skills related to sound design and implementation
  • Work on a project as either the sole sound designer or as part of a team and deliver a high standard of work

Preferred

  • Field recording and sound library management
  • Experience working with Reaper
  • Experience working with the Unity Audio System
  • Experience designing sound for VR
  • Relevant university degree
