The future of Islanders

Coatsink and Thunderful Publishing are thrilled to announce that we have acquired the Islanders franchise.

Grizzly Games’ popular minimalist strategy game first released in April 2019 on Steam to wide, critical acclaim and overwhelmingly positive player feedback. Across all platforms, it has sold over 1 million copies!

Outlets such as Kotaku called it an ‘almost perfect building game’ and Polygon said it was a ‘beautiful example of intent in design’

The story so far…

Last year, we brought the lovely Islanders: Console Edition to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, announcing it during an Indie World Presentation in August  2021.

We had so much fun working with the team, helping Islanders reach new audiences and seeing the response to it, that we further investigated the possibility of working more closely together.

Our goals, aims and ambitions continued to align, so we reached an agreement where Coatsink and Thunderful Publishing acquired the property. This also means that we are publishers of, and manage social / community support for both Islanders: Console Edition and Islanders on Steam.

What’s happening next…

The future is very bright for Islanders. In partnership with the original developers, we’re also excited to share a glimpse of our ambitions for the franchise, which includes DLC content for both Islanders and Islanders: Console Editions, the possibility of bringing Islanders to even more platforms, and beginning work on a sequel!

We’ll have much more to share when the time is right. We also know how fortunate we are to have inherited such an invested and engaged Islanders community, so we would love to hear from you whether you play on console or PC.
